His Holiness Penor Rinpoche Giving WangThe main teacher of Palyul centers in the United States is His Holiness Pema Norbu Rinpoche.

Originally from Tibet, and now based in South India, he is the 11th throneholder of the Palyul Lineage of the Nyingma tradition. His Holiness first came to the US in the 1980s, but it was not until the 1990s, as a result of the entreaties of American students, that he first requested Khenchen Tsewang Gyatso Rinpoche to found Palyul centers in the Americas. Now Palyul centers throughout the United States, Canada, the Carribean, and Mexico offer teachings in the Dharma including Meditation, Dzogchen, and more.

In 1998 he founded a retreat center in rural upstate New York, north of Binghamton.  Students throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico travel to the center each year for a full-month retreat that includes the Foundational Practices, Inner Heat Practice, as well as Togyal and Trekcho.

A more complete biography can be found here at the Palyul International website.
